Honorable Mention Cycle Vienna (Carole Barley) Tomorrow I will breathe air, wake before midday to hold winter’s rain in my palms, smear my face with the cold pureness of water. From the oceans to the skies, become cloud to make a translucent moon for my December. Come to me on cat quiet feet and spread snow in a confetti of meltings. Stand me square to the ocean, give me horizons. In the neglected beauty of gardens, be the weight that causes the leaf to touchtrickle my slowly passing shoulder. Be the brilliant cut of surf that shatters these grey north fogs. Rain on windows, hesitant pathways run to pools as deep as dreams. We are water and salt, memory is the child of the sun, endlessly gathering the fallen to throw to the skies.
